Richest compared to what? No other country carries the amount of debt that is held from the United States. You're only looking at half the picture. A lot of the wealth in concentrated in segments, whereas when the US was more economically egalitarian (pre-1950s), manufacturing and producing nation, the wealth was much more evenly distributed. People did business and traded with one another, today we really don't have that. Everyone has bought into the falsity of globalization. You can say I'm crying boo hoo all day long but those are the facts. Plus, Mr. Geithner is still Treasury Secretary. If I didn't pay my taxes, I'd be landed in jail.
