Thinking of moving to the UK

How much should I expect to spend for a good used car over there? Over here you cant spend under $5000 and expect something good. So whats the average cost in the uk for a good reliable used car?

Should I get a Vauxhall, fiat, volvo...?

I drive a Toyota Yaris, Car of the Year at some point, I've only had to call breakdown out once because I left a charger in the socket once and it wore down the battery, the recovery bloke looked visibly surprised because he said he simply never gets called out to them.
