China has about ten different names for the 漢字 depending on regional speech. English is racist in giving each writing based off the 漢字 a different name, because those are not distinguished in original languages. The so-called "hanzi" are actually called "漢字 used in China", "kanji" are called "漢字 used in Japan", "hanja" are called "漢字 used in Korea". You get the idea.
