Why are there so many shootings?

Everyday i open the news, all i hear about are shootings..  why?

It's because there are lots of people with lots of guns.  There are more people being born all the time, and the gun factories are making more guns too.  It would be statistically weird if there wasn't shootings under the circumstances.  Guns are invented for exploding little projectiles out of them; that is what they do when operated according to design.  Why are there so many people slipping on slippery surfaces?
