Oh yeah nascars definitly responsible for oil shortages.Even though the amount of gas all of motorsports has ever used doesn't amount to a drop in the barrel of world consumption. NASCAR and all other racing has however led to huge improvements in automotive performance, reliability and safety. But your probably right it wasn't worth another days supply of gas for the world.
