Every generation gets smarter. It's called The Flynn Effect. The whole "this generation is the dumbest ever" is a myth spread by ignorant old people who don't like the newness of youth culture.

In fact, this generation is the most literate generation of all time. Kids today write an average of 40 pages of text per month because of the internet. That's a far higher average than any other generation in history. Kids today know more about the world than the average citizen did at any other point history. They don't know enough imo, but they know more than the last generation did.

Smarter?  The Flynn effect is an observed increase of about two points in average I.Q. scores per generation.  This does not mean that each new generation is the "smartest" ever.  In fact everything in your post illustrates the intellectual problems particular to the "new generations of the information society".  You lack context.  Writing 40 pages of "ROFLMAO froob, GTFO" does not make "kids today" more literate, and having been exposed to more information does not necessarily mean they know more, or even have any context for appreciating the information they've been exposed to.
The standard deviation on most IQ tests is 15 points.  There's a little context for your 2 point bump, and the extra 40 pages of crap that you credit yourself with may be less intellectually stimulating than ordinary speech, and actually counterproductive to the development of sophisticated writing skills. The information you "cite" was compiled by "old people" who are also painfully aware of the fact that recent generations have been exposed to media ecologies that have had an adverse affect on attention span, and the ability to process more complex information.  Get over yourself and go do your homework.
