Why would the Canadian government suddenly ban its sale in 1991 when many local farmers already realized the cause of the contamination was from distilling alcohol and filthy conditions from many, many decades ago?
It would never be possible to be able to mass produce for obvious reasons, but the local farmer should have the right to sell his fresh farm milk and the people should have the right to purchase and consume it if they want to.
Also on pasteurization many raw milk enthusiasts feel that pasteurization destroys much of the beneficial bacteria, and big yogurt companies are starting to put some of this beneficial bacteria in their yogurt products. Because scientists are finding that it is actually good for you.
Australia also has a similar nation-wide ban (although I'm not sure if it's still in effect).
