The Geatest Technological Development ...

...in Modern History

Computers, the Internet, and free, open, anonymous bulletin boards where anyone on the planet can interact with anyone else; exchange ideas, information, even help, and this is what it looks like.  True, it's still in it's nascent stages, but my god, how pathetic.  Look at these threads.  Children, fools, racists, and bitter deviants.  Most of you should be ashamed.  Do you even know what shame is?  You make me ashamed of humanity.
It's the 21st century.  Time to grow up.

...and yet through history we will be the most frequently quoted. Our daring exploits will be taught to school children centuries from now, and they will know about the epic that is lolcat, and the epic fail that is PoBCI, and they will feel far more cultivated for it, and they will read about the wild, wild net, when the net was wild and free, and they will dream little childhood dreams about being heroes such as the fierce RedCream, or the wise MilkRibs4k, for we are all truly pioneers among men.

When you don't feel shame anymore, you are truly FREE!

In the late 20th and early 21st centuries an attempt was made to escape the fetters of the censorship and manipulation of the commercial portal.  Private individuals developed and implemented open Bulletin Boards.  They were a failure, though they were the place that "trolling" or the deliberate use of misinformation, and disinformation by individuals in the larger media ecology began.  The trolls, perhaps because they were crude and unskilled, helped develop a more sophisticated and skeptical understanding of information, and the ease with which it could be manipulated.  By 2020 the early bulletin boards were subsumed by Infobase as...

Pork Soda's forced to read a little Nietzsche in school, then,as yet unable to put it in an intelligent context, thinks he has all the answers. Keep reading Pork.  Keep reading.  You'll make it into the information age someday.

Is that even relevant to the the conversation at hand? Or is that just your way of saying "YHBT"?

Conversation at hand?  I don't see a conversation, just juvenile bickering that serves to prove the OP's point.

In a way, reminding myself, actually.  The fact is, those I refer to are incapable of recognizing themselves as such.

maybe the study just means that the condoms are strong.  AND THATS ALL

Ah, strong condoms have great uses. I know a gentleman who stretches a condom over the top of his head so the perimeter of it covers his nostrils, then proceeds to inflate it to great cheers and hurrahs

Well, like a wise man once said: "You can't really do much about boards that are uncurably full of morons.". I've spent quite a bit of my time on the imageboards and spent a few months with my time just on World4ch here. I need a vacation from this place.

OP, I completely understand what you're trying to say. It's ashame that things are the way they are. Yes, it's all in its nascent stages, but I fear it will get much, much, much worse and never get any better.

As I've written in http://dis.4chan.org/read/lounge/1240253908/51 (WARNING: too long; didn't read ahead if you wish to read it), it's just the case of Eternal September that has hit 4chan and other places. Granted, there's some interesting boards that carry the imageboard format (most of them run Wakaba or Kareha in Futaba mode), and they don't carry much of the problems that 4chan has, however they're very slow and move at a snails pace.

Well there's not much left to say. So I'll leave it at that.

Why would you put a warning in a spoiler tag? Are you homosexual??

Name: Anonymous 2009-05-24 0:33

Just a warning that the link is tl;dr.

Name: Anonymous 2009-05-24 8:22

Okay now I know you're homosexual. Why the hell would you put your warning in a spoiler tag? That was what >>37 asked, not "why did you put the warning there faggot?"
So.. Are you going to answer the question?? Faggot?

People first go for the spoiler box
Then they click on any links
Then they read the rest of the post
