Great Chicago Fire of 1871: did it happen

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-02 17:51

More like the Great Chicago Myth.  There is NO photographic or video evidence of it having ever occured.  The only image available is a -- get this -- an "artist's rendering" that was printed in Harper's Weekly.  Come on, Harper's Weekly?  Get real.

An entire industry has been built around the lie about a cow owned by a good woman, Mrs. O'Leary, having been responsible.  More like cowSHIT.  You don't have to dig deep to find this admission:  "Michael Ahern, the Chicago Republican reporter who created the cow story, admitted in 1893 that he had made it up because he thought it would make colorful copy."  Hmmm, "Ahern", that's not a common name.  What kind of name is "Ahern".  I wonder.
