There are levels to the practice of rape. The lowest is the raper. Nothing of finesse is suggested by the name; the raper is merely "one who rapes". You rape; you are a raper, and that's that. Next is the rapist. There is learnedness suggested by the name. Skill has been acquired; the rapist is a raper who knows the finer points of raping. A rapist is not one who is satisfied with sloppy work. At the top of the scale is the rapiste. This raper has acquired the skills of the rapist, but has taken raping to the level of high art. The rapiste brings an individuality to his craft that is unmistakeably his own.
