Has anyone seen any of Jan Svankmajer's films?
In particular what interests me is Sileni, or Lunacy.
I just saw it, and thought it was absolutely brilliant. There are a few good films that come out here and there that I would consider worth my while to watch, not very many at all that is, and even fewer that I would consider real art, but this particular film really is devastatingly brilliant. The symbolism is apt and striking, the direction suitable, etc.
A defiant yell from the bowels of the deep, dark cave, affirming humanity, affirming existence...
Affirming human nature! Something that it should not be possible to lose, but that has been lost.
If you have not seen it, I encourage you to watch it.
(Also on an aside, does anyone have a torrent of all of his films and short films? This isn't a request thread and if you don't, don't trouble yourself.)
Copied and pasted from /r9k/ as I figure this is a better place to discuss it. It doesn't belong in /tv/ as it isn't television.
