I think most of the spamming is due to retards from /b/ being too used to its bot spam to be able to tolerate a board without it. Their robotic sheep mentality means it was easy for some of them to imitate bot spam by constantly posting a shit phrase, therefore making them all comfortable in /lounge/ even without any pictures.

I DID NOT. I started two epic memes recently, (DRIVE LIKE JEHU and SPAM DRINK COCA COLA), and they both took off in a big way. They were designed as entertaining, lulz-fulled phrases that could be posted instead of fail spam. So fuck you.

Wow, you really seem to need an explanation: A meme is something funny. It spreads joy. I brings out chuckles every time it's posted. It's pedobear. It's the tourist of death. (...or at least "was".) Why? Because it's not simply posting something over and over again, but applying new themes to it. For instance: The rickroll isn't a meme anymore. Why? Because it's been posted to death and 4chan has moved on. It doesn't bring out the chuckles. Now it's just spam. A sigh is not a chuckle. Know the difference.
The reason spam like "jehu" would take off, is just due to mindblowing retardation: We've got a lot of 10yos here who thinks doing as the big boys does makes them cool. It doesn't matter if every post in 4chan says "drive like jehu": It won't even be more than mindless spam. It won't ever bring out any chuckles because its boring the second time you post it. It's just boring, mundane spam, and it will get even more boring for each time it's posted.
