Name: Struggling Artist 2008-11-14 2:32
I'm a working artist struggling to make a living. I'm not a music or movie superstar so I don't earn enough to complain that piracy is setting me back another limo. No, I'm a fanfic artist. I write fanfics for perhaps 30 bucks a story. It's hard, people. It's really hard. Piracy is literally killing me, because I can't afford the rent for my small flat this month.
Stealing my work isn't any different from stealing a car or robbing a bank. You are taking someting that doesn't belong to you. It's a crime. Why is it so hard to understand.
My friend Josh has it even harder. He's a sexual fantasy artist. People pirate his stuff all the time, thinking Samus doing it with a metroid is some kind of a public domain.
I've notified the RIAA about any pirates I happen to find, and they said they'll get right on it, but I feel it's a little hopeless, and that the government just isn't taking piracy seriously enough.
Soon it will be impossible for us artists to make a living, and what will happen then? No more fanfics. No more sexual fantasies. No more daydreams. You wouldn't be able to hit a drum. Well, you probably could, but no music would come out, because the music would be too expensive. Rock n roll would be dead, and piracy would have killed it.
Just think about it.
...and buy my fanfics.
