I appreciate the fact that some people on this forum are able to show sensitivity towards this issue behind the delay. Its a given that some people will not take a look at the situation in a serious way, and all they see is delay = bad.
I myself am a Muslim, and I am proud to be a Muslim. As many people now know, it goes against my religion to mix holy text from the qur'an with music or song. That's part a core part of our beliefs as it is written in the qur'an. The fact that holy text is in a videogame makes it worse to be honest. And I speak both as a gamer and as a Muslim. Whilst I know not to normally expect the kind of understanding that Media Molecule and Sony have shown to this issue, I am very happy that they have responded to it in a sensitive manner.
As I gamer, I myself hate delays of any kind. I myself and anyone else that cares for the reputation and status of Media Molecule should understand that they made the right decision to act upon the situation. And indeed people shouldnt draw parallels between this and stuff like the portrayal of Russians in GTA4 (as one person did). Some people will recognise that Capcom dealt with a similar situation with Zack and Wiki, and took an appropriate response.
The problem is not that others do not follow our core beliefs and therefore do not take offence to the song in the game. It is that others should be respectful, and understanding of the fact that using Islamic holy text in videogames or music is deeply offensive to Muslims. It doesn't need to be done, regardless of whether you think it is acceptable or not. And I am glad Media Molecule realised this and acted upon the issue.
But please try to understand that this isn't a situation that you can draw parallels, like the GTA scenario that I mentioned, to. And please understand that being disrespectful to the beliefs of others is not acceptable. Especially with reference to the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) and references to Muslims being terrorists that I have read on this forum today.
