News Media, the internet, and 4chan

So lets talk about the news and their small amount of knowledge on the internet and its subculture ("Its where all the college 20 somethings go, HENTAI LOL WUTS DAT!? VIDEO GAMES WUT?") and, of course, 4 "HACKERS ON STEROIDS" chan.

So...why is the media so retarded when it comes to the internet? Its like watching my grandmother trying to explain it. Why does 4chan constantly appear on the news yet are so misunderstood (lol band of hackers).

was reading in wikki earlier about 4chan,  it was like- wtf?  are we talking about the same 4chan?  i can see how straight media might be like that (5 yrs out of date and on another planet) but damn! wikki is pretty much next door!
