Do u sometimes feel ur too smart?

These days I notice a lot of the times when I hear people talk, they just sound like fucking idiots.

Especially when they start talking about topics like....video games....or politics.

Like when some guy would tell me about a really cool tennis game he just played on PS3

"you know video games look so realistic these days, the tennis players actually look like REAL tennis players!"

What do you do? Besides roll your eyes....go to sleep?....or just change the subject? How do I let them know they're clueless, without being insulting?

But I guess I'm being unfair. Most people are normal and they get their info from normal sources...ie TV. Not everyone spends 24 hrs a day on message boards and Wikipedia like I do. Do I just know fucking too much for my own good? Or are other people too stupid and need to catch up?

Of course once in a while u meet some hardcore people who really know their shit. But those are pretty rare.

Jeepers, just say "yeah" and nod your head.  Being a man of few words will make you seem manly.

This technique also works for dumb people.

You can count on the fact that there will always be a supply of braindead people but don't forget that different people have differing interests and knowledge areas to you; they will only have a little knowledge of something but have plenty of knowledge about other things. For example, I wouldn't call a judge stupid for not knowing how to properly manage an Internet facing Windows machine in order to keep it clean from malware.

I used to think I was too smart.  It turns out that it's a matter of socializing.  If you're focused on people and social interactions you lose some of the focus that the more difficult to grasp sciences and professions require.  It's not that people are stupid, it's all the social behaviors that you have to be aware of.
