The Russian letter Н is one of several letters that are confused with practically identical letters used in English and that represent completely different sounds. Simply put, Н is not H. Instead, Н is for the N sound, as in nuts. It is worth mentioning that if any of certain vowels follow, Н will give the N sound follow by the consonant Y sound (which, by the way, is apparently the favourite Russian sound, stuck in all over the fyuckin' place).
