bf gave me a small engagement ring

Showed the ring to my friends and they were all pretty shocked at how cheap it was. He makes decent money so its not like he couldn't afford something nice. I'm wondering if I should end the relationship because it seems like he doesn't value it AT ALL.

it seems like you don't value it at all. it seems to me that, if you really valued your relationship, you wouldn't be bitching about material items, and instead thinking about the gesture. but no, you're shallow and materialistic and only see the size of the ring. if you're really willing to end the relationship because of the size of your ring, i think you are the one who doesn't value the relationship. giving you a small ring shows that he values you over material items, and believes more in the thought behind the item than the item itself.
