.......Nobody listens.

We've become a "talking over each other" society. You can't talk and listen at the same time, but it's the norm now. It's obvious everywhere, and propagated by the media, even the most respected talk shows. If high profile experts of every kind do it on global networks like CNN, etc., what hope is there for the common person?

In addition, we're overwhelmed by our own lives. The frenetic speed mode that we're in makes us take on more than we can handle, and we burn ourselves out. We can't even see our own problems.

We're always on the run, and unless someone SCREAMS and shakes us up, we DON'T HEAR.

Looks like we forget that we have to BREATHE...to SLOW DOWN. STRESS KILLS!

Addiction is like any other disease. When you know you're sick, you need to get help. If you don't run out there and SCREAM for help, you won't get it. And even then, sometimes it's like talking to a brick wall. The medical system is a disaster. Believe me, I'm talking from my current experience. We have the so-called ideal medical system here in Canada...BUT ONLY IF YOU'RE NOT SICK.

The disease I'm fighting is not addiction, but if it were, it would be the same thing. In this so-called free medical system, I paid big time money to a private clinic to speed things along because the waiting list is almost 2 years for tests in the public system. And the best part is that even the doctors at the PRIVATE clinic took their sweet time, aggravating my situation to the point of near-death.

When I make it out of this, they will remember me. Right now, I have no energy for anything. That's why I haven't been very present at wowzone for the last several months. I am fighting for my life, like too many others. It's absolutely shameful in this time and place.

I send you my deepest sympathies for your brother. I don't even want to imagine the pain you all went through.

Nonetheless, in my humble opinion, I truly think there is nothing you could have done, so I sincerely hope that you don't blame yourself in any way.

Be well, Marianne.
