Just can't get a girlfriend

I don't understand what is wrong with me. For some reason, I just can't find any girl anywhere that I feel comfortable going up and talking to. I'm actually terrified to talk to any girls. I've only met a few girls in my life And I mean about one or two girls that I wasn't afraid to go up to and talk to. I am afraid any girl will think I'm the most ugliest, disgusting looking person on the earth. Is this normal?

Try joining some sort of club or band. For example, learn an instrument and join and orchestra, or learn backgammon and join a backgammon club.
