My biggest fear, I've come to realize, is rejection, and it pretty much controls everything I do in life. I'm absolutely terrified of making the first step in any sort of social situation including but not limited to: initiating a conversation with anyone from stranger to acquaintance or even certain friends; volunteering information in class; asking anyone (assuming somehow a conversation has been initiated) to do anything ever (hang out/go to a movie/go to a concert/get coffee/etc); ask anyone out on a date ever.
Basically anything I've ever done in my social life has been the result of other people starting conversations and inviting me to do things. I even am terrified to call close friends to do something, because I'm afraid they'll have something else to do and turn me down/reject me, so I just wait for other people to call. This is the reason I have made no friends in my 3.5 years of college, and I'm not sure how I have managed to keep friends from before college.
