Mushroom

Anyone think they can help me identify a mushroom?  Not a drug mushroom, at least I don't think it is.  It was found under other plants where it was dark, I don't think it was moist when it grew but the night before it rained so it was moist when we found it.  It was in a cluster of about five.  It was long and tubular, with a red top half and a white bottum half.  The inside was hollow.  Any help?

the best way to identify mushrooms is by taste.  it is safe as long as you don't swallow, don't let the juices remain in the mouth more than a few seconds, rinse with alcohol, milk, then vinegar, followed by gargling with water, and stuff your mouth with white bread, hold for a minute or two, then spit out.  there may be some lingering tingling in the lips regardless.
