Porn objectifies the who in the what now?

I hate when people say "porn is bad, it's objectification of women" and all that. I would like to say that I see where they're coming from, but I really don't. I mean, first of all, not all porn even has women in it, and yet I don't say things like "gay porn is objectification of men." I just don't see the problem. It's not like I'm hurting anyone or in any other way treating them like crap. No harm, no foul, right?

And what the hell? Porn stars don't represent all of humankind, let alone all people of either sex. I mean, come on.

Recently some feminazis got all bent out of shape over a statuette of Mary Jane from Spiderman that some guy made for his friend. One person said that it "reinforces the Happy Little Home-Maker stereotype." Now, what does that even mean? Do the strong, muscular men in the media reinforce the unnecessary "alpha male" stereotype? And as a scrawny guy who keeps to himself should I complain about "stereotyping"? Well, I don't, because it's just the way the characters were chosen to look; I highly doubt the creators are trying to say, "all you men have to look and be like this! If you don't then you fail at life!" I think it's just what they like and/or it's what they figure their audience would like, or whatever. Same with women in the media.

What say you, lounge?

That first post is actually the only thing on this crappy site that's ever interested me.

I agree with it.
