People and animals

I was just wondering if I am weird or very normal, I can't help it but ask here...

When I think of animals around the world, especially wolves, dogs and cats, I get a boner everytime I think of the fact that there are many of them cuties out there who get abandoned, hurt or done bad things to and then left to die, alone, without help, for example shutting a dog in small room and leave him there till he dies...

But when I think of the same thing about humans, I don't care. I don't have emotions to humans I don't know, but I have emotions to animals I don't know or never met.

Is this normal, or am I some weird sadistic sodomizer?
