hey guys, i know the majority of us here are college students so i have a question. i dropped a class without telling my parent (in before virgin) and i belive i failed another. should i lie about it and make up good grades or what? I know this was in /b/ too but im reposting for more replies.

College are not allowed to give your info to anyone but yourself.
Your parents might ask to see it. And if you refuse to show it to them they might threaten to stop paying your tuition.

im paying the rest myself with student loans, but they could start making me pay rent. i was living on my own for 2 years then my dad let me move in with him so i could work part time.

It depends then on if you're still in close relations with your parents. If they're just like a roommate who isn't going to intrude into your own business then it's not worth telling them, but otherwise I would, but not in an apologizing way, in more of a regretful "lets talk about my problems" way.

I have been under alot of stress lately, which is partly why i failed the one course. i had insurance problems and got my license suspended, then i had to go through the horrible procedure of getting driving privileges. i could play that card and hopefully he would understand. whatever you do MAKE SURE YOUR INSURANCE IS UP TO DATE FOR GODS SAKE its a horrible thing to happen if you dont live in walking distance of everything

Unless your parents are abusive they will probably be supportive if you talk to them about it in a way that makes it seem like you feel bad about it and want to change. But if you say "i failed linear algebra dad lol" he'll probably sage your conversation and perma-ban you and revoke your ability to appeal the ban.
