It is a filter, in that it makes it harder for obnoxious idiots (e.g. you) to see what's going on.
Also, I was dead serious about downloading a real browser. Unless you tell me otherwise I assume you use IE, which, much like yourself, lacks the sophistication required to resolve the situation at hand.
