Just remember: The right to keep and bear arms has its origins in the historical claim that British soldiers, loyalists, and Hessian mercenaries barged into peoples homes for food and shelter regardless of whether or not they were welcome. I imagine that many a man felt UNMANED when some stranger(s) with a gun walked into his house uninvited and took up residence without so much as a by-your-leave in front of the wife and children.
It is unfortunate that so many people today abuse the second amendment to prove their manhood, settle vendettas (dueling has been outlawed in this country for over a hundred years as a way of settling what's what), commit suicide, or blow off steam.
Also, if you fix it so that no citizen can have a gun, the only ones left with guns will be the government (police, military, secret service), and criminals (gangs, robbers, etc...); and maybe the occasional creative nut case.

ACtually, I wouldn't even say criminals would have weapons. Only serial killers would. Your average criminal wouldn't go through the trouble of importing weapons from another country unless he was going to do something major.
