OH FUCK, FUCK FUCK FUCK!!! :( Help!

I just logged into my old email account for the first time since last November. To my horror I discovered that this one guy I've known online since 2005 has sent me an email which is dated November 27th, 2006. Long story short, I thought something had happened to him because he hadn't replied to my last message for a long time and so I never checked my old account especially since I managed to get a Gmail account.

So now I'm just thrilled to see that he had sent me a message after all and I want to reply to him so badly, but I don't know if I should since it turns out it was me who had disappeared. It might seem a bit awkward, just suddenly coming back after months of absense, you know.

Any advice, /lounge/? Should I contact him or just let things be the way they've become?

Tell him that you got a new email address and did not find it necessary to check your old one, as you had thought that he forgot about you and whatnot.
