I go to a japanese high school as an exchange studen,t so I bring a anime book to school and everyone laughs at me

Otaku are generally frowned upon in Japan.  Mangas can be considered a sign of otaku-ness.  Filthy Ota.

Mangas are pretty much read by everyone in Japan, even 40-yr-old businessmen.  Watching anime, on the other hand, is super nerdy.  I guess it also depends on which manga you're reading.

No it's the same as if you brought an anime book to any school in the world, everyone will know that you are a weaboo.
