THE wife of a brokerage house employee has been arrested after dismembering her husband's body in retaliation for his domestic violence, Japanese police and news reports said today.
Police arrested Kaori Mihashi, 32, wife of Yusuke Mihashi, a 30-year-old employee of a foreign-affiliated securities firm, late yesterday on suspicion of "abandoning a corpse'', a police spokesman said.
The arrest came weeks after mutilated parts of his body - his unclothed torso and the lower half of his body - were found in several locations in central Tokyo.
She admitted killing her husband during questioning, saying she "cut up the body with a saw'' after she killed him by clubbing his head with a wine bottle on December 12 while he was in bed, according to Kyodo News.
"I could not be the person I am because our ways of living never matched,'' she was quoted by Kyodo as telling police officers.
"After he assaulted me, I decided to kill him.''
Ms Mihashi reportedly said her husband had attacked her for the past six months, saying she "could not stand his violence'', according to the Asahi Shimbun newspaper.
Based on her testimony, the police found his head in a Tokyo park.
The couple had been married for three-and-a-half years, but their relations began to sour after six months of marriage. Kyodo said. Their wedding took place in March 2003.
