inside your head

Does anyone feel like they are thinking inside their heads all the time and not noticing the things around you enough? When i was a kid I'd notice the things around me more easily. Like the texture on my keyboard and the feeling of the places you get when you go to different places.

Now everything feels like it's all in my head. Sometimes, but not very often, I will feel like I can finally notice what is around me like before.

It's called getting older.  As you grow up, your brain loses neurons through a sort of a "pruning" process.  Your brain loses neurons that you don't use, maybe because your neural system thinks they're unneccesary.  The point of this process seems to be to make the brain more efficient.  You may have about a billion neurons when you're a baby; only several hundread million at 25.  That probably explains the change in sensation you're getting.  It also explains why kids are more open to new experiences than adults.

My advice? TAke on many different kinds of hobbies and other stuff to excersize your brain while you still can.  That should mark as many neurons as possible to be spared.
