I'm gonna turn 16 soon (OMG UNDERAGE B&!!!11), at which time, I can legally drop out of high school and/or move out of my Father's house. Should I?
Being a single parent and an alcoholic, my Father isn't too pleasant and I really dislike his company, and he thinks of me only as a financial burden. As for high school... I have been truant for most of my entire schooling since Kindergarten because I'm a sociophobic loser, and I am not motivated to finish it. I'm destined to lead a life of mediocrity either way, 'cause I have no talents, resume, or work/social skills. Like the cliched saying goes- it's not what you know, but who you know.
Also, I do have around $4,900- $400 of it in cash, the rest in short-term CDs which will mature soon, and an extra few thousand dollars in assets which I could easily liquidate. I'm not sure if my Dad would actually let me have all my money; he still has control over my bank account and certificate of deposits because I am a minor. But even without the extra $4,500, that would still be enough to pay for minimal food and shelter for at least a little while until I can find a minimum wage job so that I can support myself.
So... Is this a good idea? Have any of you here dropped out of high school and/or moved out of your parent's house very early? Did it work out well?
No typical 4chan shit, okay? I'm serious and expect serious responses. Replying "SHOOP DA WHOOP" or "Become an hero" is not amusing in the least.
