Why people refuse to believe God exist

There are alot of Christian topic being formed all around but no one has yet said their reasons why they don't believe in God.

Is it just because you can't see God that you feel he don't exist, or because you feel nothing should be greater than humans, or you don't just want to believe God exist?

I refuse to believe in God simply because I can't believe in a powerful, loving being who isn't powerful or loving. I don't like the idea that I'm not in control of my life. The whole idea of an omniscient being who controls just isn't appealing, and is quite franlky stupid. If God has the power, why doesn't he show it. If God punishes the disbelievers, why doesn't he punish me? It's all so stupid. Just some guy's crazy idea that has got out of proportion
