about text boards in general

How fast does this board, or any text board move? In all my time on 4chan, probably a little over a year. I have never step foot into the text portion. So are there any qualities that make it worth while, or am i wasting my time on a stale portion of 4chan.

I had to know if it was a bit entertaining if i was going to visit it while at school.
