Once upon a time! - there once was the worlds first super power!.. (Great Britain) it beat the living day lights out of anyone who got in its way and at any one time that country ruled a quarter of the worlds population!. Its empire lasted over 200 years.. these days Britain isn't so great! its still a powerful nation and its influences still carry weight!. On the other hand there is the USA!, 50 times bigger in land mass and at least 7 times greater in population! - its vital and bright brash and sulky!.. Britain lost its way during the second world war! all its efforts beat off the Germans Italians Japanese to hold on to its empire drained its spirit and its bank accounts, leaving it almost bankrupt!. leaving the door open for the far bigger much richer and less depleted US to step into been leader of the free world..
Since then the world has changed beyond all recognition with the dominate force of the old USSR coming and going in 50 years..
Right now we are on the verge of a new super power emerging! (china) already through globalization its industrial might is robbing European and American workers of their jobs. Greed is the name of the game boys!.. All those international conglomerate companies and other who see only the bottom line and how to make the fastest buck! will continue to take jobs from the 1st world where things are expensive to produce and have them made in places like china India and maybe brazil where life is cheap and there is an abundance of willing workers who are happy to work for pittance!. In the end its in no ones interests that the US looses its super power status, cos even though it has its faults and gets things wrong, its still better than the alternative..
Perhaps though military super powers are not the only ones that we have to contend with! - All ready the defunct mighty USSR is re emerging on to the world scene has a mighty power controlling huge reserves of gas and oil..
Iv no doubt that the finical power of the US will continue to bank roll its dominance, but for how long is anyone's guess - greed is the name of the game boys!!.. Oil and gas are the life blood of modern society, those who control it will ultimately become more super dominant!.
