I can't speak for everyone. But if one of my breasts was torn off in a car accident or ravaged by cancer, I'd seriously consider getting an implant to look symmetrical again. If half the skin was burned off my face, I'd leap at the chance for reconstructive surgery. Less so I could conform to societal beauty standards (though I admit, lacking in perfection as I do, that would be a factor), but more to just be able to avoid having it come up in every single social interaction I ever had for the rest of my life.

But like most things with a good core idea, along come the Patriarchs to twist and pervert toward the subjugation of women.
