In December of 2004 the My Little Pony Points Program offered this huge stuffed white pony for 250 pony points. I had to have one- she's giant, and white- my favorite color for a pony. I added up all my pony points and I only had about 40. I went on to do the math with several different pony objects and attempted to figure out which item gave you more points per dollar.
The cheapest I could figure out how to get the pony was about $300 - 400 dollars of purchases. I couldn't do that at that time- we were saving to move to California.
But I also couldn't miss having that pony.
One day while wandering through a Target looking for pony points- I noticed that the My little Pony backpacks have swing tags. And that the price was on one tag, and the pony points on another. I ripped off the points tag and tucked it up my sleeve.
And walked out.
I proceeded to go to four or five different Targets, Toys R Us's, and Walmarts in search of all pony items with swing tags: clothing, stuffed toys, backpacks.
In about two weeks I had the 210 points I needed.
And I got my fucking giant pony.
