Should women be allowed to vote?

Name: Anonymous 2006-06-20 20:27

I believe women should not be allowed to vote in the United States. If there was ever a draft, women would not be called upon for service. THUS, women do not have to fight and die for their rights and their country. So, how is it fair they can vote?

Clearly they should not worry about political issues, they should worry about what color rug goes best with the living room. They should worry about getting the kids to school on time. They should worry about what time dinner should be ready for.

America was once a happy place, a place where women knew their role and life was good. I say its time to return to our glory days.

Wanting to have the same responsibilities does not mean wanting to be the same. Just because I think it's only fair that woman should be called into the draft the same as men are doesn't mean that I think everything should be exactly the same in every aspect.

I don't think it's right to compare gender to race or religion. The one thing that race and religion will alwalys share is that there are women and men in every single one, and in that sense there's always going to be the equality debate. But just being able to do everything that the other gender can do does not mean being the same.
