So I've definitely been in a few situations where I've been having a casual conversation with someone and they'll just say "fag" like it's no one's business, yet I can't say that I was particularly offended. I have a gay friend who doesn't fail to correct anyone who uses that word, but to me, it doesn't seem necessary. Anyway, I was just wondering what you all do when people say "fag/got" around you. Is there any correct way to handle this situation?
might I add that I'm not out yet, and people wouldn't guess.

What about if they say "I am smoking a fag"?

When people says faggot around me, I mark them with the "Intelligent_NonPoliticallyCorrect" flag. Then I proceed to use the word myself around them.
Around the fags who are politically correct, the flags "Intelligent_NonPoliticallyCorrect" and "Intelligent_Overall" are always unset so I talk to them calmly and slowly, in an attempt to not offend their limited intelligence.

Any fag that object to the use of the word fag is a huge fag that should stop fagging shit up like a major fag and kill himself immediately. Fag.
people need to quit overusing 'fag'. sure it's easy to say but damn it gets tiresome. sometimes i feel like internet dialog is like that scene in being john malkovich, except instead of 'malkovich' it's 'fag FagFAG faGFAG?!'
I only say FAG to mock people who insist on filtering communication. censoring your ideas to remain politically correct is weak. "I'm not going to say anything that might make anybody mad at me or not like me because then i am cool with everybody and everybody likes me oh do i sound insecure?"
And gay people dont care. gay people who are out of the closet, dont give a flying fuck about the word FAG.
Its some of these humanist left-wingers that want to make the world "poitively-charged-emotionally" that piss me off.

>>14 Errr, you don't avoid words to 'censor your ideas'. If your ideas involve using predujaces against people based on things they can't help, the concern is not over your choice of words but the ideas themselves, and saying words like fag/got queer or else in a derogatory sense is an indication of one's ideas and values.
And some (many?) gay people do care when others use words like that. I know a few.
