I feel that death is worse than rape. Of course it's hard to ponder something as relative as rape, which includes bad, long-term consequences for the victim, and may or may not include torture. However, for me nothing is worse than taking a person away from its existence.
I also think that we live in a matriarchal society, where its strict rules and sedentarity favor women instead of men who tend to lose their equal rights, and sometimes be victim of prejudices. Women who fake rape have a powerful weapon; forever they'll put a shadow of doubt over an innocent man. It won't even matter if she's wrong or right, the guy has RAPIST tatooed on his forehead for all his life.
Of course (save for homosexual rape), victims of rape are girls; do you realise how biased these kinds of debates can be, solely because of the person's genders? It's understandable that such questions are kinda taboo, but what's with everyone freaking out over a simple discussion?
Problem also is that in the past, men commited countless violent sexual acts over women without facing any consequences whatsoever, since the protective, organised society we have today didn't exist. Men are beings driven by their testosterone, and women always were kinda forced to obey their will.
So now as we live in a sedentary society we have an enormous lag over what men must do, from cavemen to your typical office worker of today.
It's terrible to abuse a person in a complete state of lesser defense for its own sadistic enjoyment, but I still feel rape is not as criminally reprehensible as it is hyped up to be. I think there are people who commit far worse crimes who get away with a lot less, simply because of the taboo nature of sex. Sex in movies and games will offend... while violence will pass without anyone raising an eyebrow.
