Seriously now (yeah wow, I'll be serious for a moment), tell them right away. There's nothing to feel bad about, it's just their race, and they can probably notice they're not the same as whites. I don't think there's a problem with any race, everyone should be proud of his/her race without necessarily being racist against others. I'm white myself, and I don't have the slightest problem with blacks, they are fine. I don't like niggers though, I hope you get the difference. Just tell them "Hi, you're black, stay proud of it, but don't be a nigger, be a fine black man/woman". Likewise, if they were white, you would tell them, "Hi, you're white, stay proud of it, but don't be a redneck, be a fine white man/woman".
