Giving anime a try

So all anime fanboys I know are faggots. And up to now I hated anime. And Dragon Ball Z sucks. But I thought to myself, if so many /b/tards like that stuff, there has to be something to it.

I want to give it a try. What should a noob watch?

Preferably something with few or no tentacle rape.

Just tried to find "Monster". According to Wikipedia, the anime only just aired in Japan, so there's no English dubbed version available amirite?
