Giving anime a try

So all anime fanboys I know are faggots. And up to now I hated anime. And Dragon Ball Z sucks. But I thought to myself, if so many /b/tards like that stuff, there has to be something to it.

I want to give it a try. What should a noob watch?

Preferably something with few or no tentacle rape.

Okay, I'll try to get a hold of Cowboy Bebop then.

Do they do weird stuff like merging all human souls into a single one or something in it? Because I dig crap like that.
