I like manga and anime and I have no racial prejudice against Japan, but there is one thing that pisses me off about them: their manga monopoly. It's rather stupid if you ask me that only Japanese can make manga. I know, it's part of their culture, but you certainly don't see Americans holding a monopoly on rap (it occurs in many places outside the US now).

It's all in your mindset. It's not like they're the only ones who can write a good story, or use good (or even manga-styled) art. Look at manwha, it's the Korean equivalent of manga. The Japanese can never make manwha any more than a Korean or American could make manga. It's simply that way because... their comics are so distinct from ours that we use their term for them. To apply the "manga" label to non-Japanese comics would be like calling "comics" conspicuously by their German name for no reason. It's just that Americans are starting to see manga as some kind of brand. It's not a monopoly, it's a definition.
American comics are no more manga than a random American is Japanese. It's not a monopoly, it's a simple observation.
