Don't use Pimsleur, it's retarded. Get Genki 1 and Genki 2 if you want textbooks. After you've finished those, try Tobira.

Or just read Tae Kims guide to Japanese grammar.

Have you actually started using them yet? Just a blind guess, but I think they're more effective when you do.

Ultimately what matters more is how much effort you're willing to put in and not as much what you're using to learn.
