why do japs put shit in katakana like kyaputen instead up kaputen

Hey /lang/. I'm looking to learn Japanese, and the two most common online Japanese lessons I've been recommended are TextFugu and Namasensei. TextFugu looks like it's probably better quality, but I don't really have the cash for it right now. Should I do Namasensei's lessons, or wait until I can afford TextFugu?
