It makes more than any other single release on the Virtual Console annually IIRC.
And, so what? Does that mean every PS2 release in the past 5 years should become instantly glorified? No.
MM had something unique for Zelda, but the execution was poor even outside the limits of the N64. What's more, and I don't care how much you want to defend it, it is the only Zelda game where people can call rehash and it's absolutely true. It was the lowest Nintendo ever stooped with the franchise, and I think that's one of the reasons they took their time to add real variety to Wind Waker.
TL;DR I don't mind people liking MM, but stop defending Nintendo for it.
If you've killed something in a game you should go to jail for murder.
