Why do Chinese people assume the name of westerners when talking to a westerner?

cuz theyre chinks

'cause they think it makes them fit in, without realizing that they have a massive lack of cultural context when choosing their names
I've met a guy here (Beijing) who chose his "American name" as Satan, and another as Adolf Hitler. They were both adamant that it was their name, and they wouldn't change it. They didn't understand how much of an ass they were making of themselves.

Maybe because white people can't pronounce stupid chinese names?

But we can pronounce other foreign names.

I think it's kind of convenient, they make them blend in far better than the other minorities which want to be called something that is impossible for natives to pronounce.

A more important question is, IMO, why is not everyone doing this?

Why do the Chinese still draw their words like cavemen instead of spelling them with letters?

Why do the Chinese still eat their food with sticks instead of using forks, knives and spoons?
