ancient greek FTW!

Yeah, i'm a classics geek. but i know ancient and modern greek. Thing is i can't really think of anything to say and typing them is kind of really annoying (you can use the Symbol font, but they have no accents/breathing marks) so let's just leave it at that

It's a pretty big leap. Pronunciation is mostly the same, but there are many other differences. And to be honest, modern Greek is an incomplete language, it spread before it was properly built, and it's not really worth it unless you want to live in Greece.

Definitely not as attractive as ancient, either, and littered with loanwords which are used in place of existing words. (For example, everyone knows the word 'background', but few people know that there's an actual word for that in Greek.) This results in people getting funny looks for NOT speaking like idiots.
