I'm an American beginning to learn German, but I wanted to be able to practice. I was hoping that there was a 4chan-like german forum I could practice on. Seems a good way to learn a bit about contemorary culture as well -- the books I'm using were printed in the 1980's, so I would imagine things have changed somewhat since.
Danke schön, freunde!

krautchan is the largest German imageboard, but it has some cancer like directly translated memes that nobody would even dare to use in real German

I have to agree with this, I'm learning Dutch first. I tried German, but I like Dutch a little better.
Also, Deutsch, not Duetch, dipshit

I speak both German and Dutch pretty well, and I much prefer speaking German. I just hate how Dutch sounds, like a guy with a cold and a sore throat.
How about German is more widely spoken. Maybe he just made a typo, dipshit.

And Panjabi is 5 times more widely spoken than German, why not learn that then?

I'm >>6 and oddly I don't like how it sounds, but I want to study it (it sounds alright in songs though)

No shit it's more widely spoken, not everybody studies a language because a shitton of people speak it
Why not learn Mandarin if you want to speak to a lot of speakers?
Try http://3-ch.org/ for a text board like this in german. It's the only german 2ch-style text board and doesn't have a lot of users, but at least it's not all translated memes.

>>11 implying we all want to study languages because they are "useful"
If I live in a place where it's all Dutch speakers and no German speakers, then it's not more useful, now is it?
If I never plan on using it, it's not quite useful is it?
I study languages because I like them, not because they seem "useful"
